We had a great PN meeting last night in Asheville with good attendance. As announced, "Dr. D" came and held forth on the subject of the synagogue of Satan, a Biblical subject rarely mentioned from pulpits today! The Asheville club urgently needs more attendees in order to survive. The news broke at approximately 3:20pm on October 18th, 2011, that just an hour earlier the Confederate Battleflags that had been stolen from the graves of 7 Confederate Veterans in the Yellow Dirt Cemetery located inside Georgia Power's Plant Wansley only 6 days earlier - with blessing of management - H A V E B E E N R E S T O R E D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The mounting pressures from unrelenting forces finally woke up the "Southern" Company folks that they had not stepped, but jumped head first into a horrible situation by desecrating the final resting places of 7 Confederate Veterans violating numerous Georgia laws, then attempted to cover it up with denial and obfuscation - at one point attempting to forbid visitors into the cemetery itself.
From the initial response to replacing the original missing 7 Confederate Battleflags on October 8th by the Haralson Invincibles Camp # 673, when called upon by descendants of one of the Confederate Veterans thru the heartbreaking and very damning media reports from Heard Citizen, News-Banner, Times-Journal and Carroll Star alerting us the flags have been removed again on October 12th, right on thru to those who answered the call to arms from such groups as the Sons of Confederate Veterans and people like Tommy PoP Aaron and his blog support, Charles Demastus for his ever diligent Southern Heritage News and Views, the excellent youtube video by Chad Smith and the Facebook protest page and web support from Susan Hathaway, strong local efforts from Billy Bearden and Ernie Blevins as well as everyone reading this press release who helped make this moment possible

I could not help smiling at the lady and two men sitting across the table from me in this California restaurant injected into the middle of North Carolina. We had just been deploring the use of this unisex slang expression to mean “ladies and gentlemen” and debating the possibility of asking waitresses to avoid it.
The waitress cocked her head and asked if something was wrong. After a few minutes of embarrassing hesitation, I told her, “This is a lady sitting next to me, not a guy, and the rest of us are men or even gentlemen, not guys or kids or fellows.”
“Then what am I supposed to say?”
When one Southern literary gent at the table suggested “You all,” she protested, “But then I’d sound like a cracker.” We assured her that the best people said “Y’all” and added that if she wanted to talk Yankee, she should talk old Philadelphia and not suburban Des Moines.
“Guy,” whether is derived from the effigies of Guy Fawkes burnt on the fifth of November or, as Mencken believed, from the guy-rope of a circus tent, has nothing to recommend itself as a term of address. Chesterton objected to being called a “regular guy” when he visited America – perhaps he thought he was being accused of being a Catholic terrorist.
The real point in using “guy” is that it is a weapon in the war to eliminate distinctions and to level sexes, ranks and ages into one neutral category that probably includes domestic animals.
Like “citizen” or “comrade,” guys is a political term that does nothing to elevate the waitress but only denies the social reality constructed by men and women, young and old. If pressed, the sweet young thing from Concord might had said she was doing this 50-something old man a favor by treating him as “one of the guys,” but some us old bucks are proud to have got to where we are and can barely tolerate the society of the under-35 guys, chicks, dudes, and hey-mans whose philosophy of life is “I deserve a break today.” Did somebody say “stupid”?

The August 22 number carried an all-too-brief and way too polite aacount of Newt Gingrich as GOP Pezidential candidate. Finally -- FINALLY -- somebody else sees what I did from this clown's first (1990s) entry into political stardom at the time of the so-called Republican revolution:

Called the “Contract With America,” the plan received an enormous amount of media coverage at the time..... Lost in the hubbub of policy debate was the fairly obvious point that a “contract with America” — between the federal government and the American people — already existed in the form of the U.S. Constitution; were its limits on government power and spending observed faithfully, no further electoral gimmickry and grandstanding would be necessary.
