"Nutty" news category often the best-focused on the news front

These items just in via NuttyNewsToday.com. What a perfect picture of how technologically supernal we're getting as we rapidly turn into a third-world hellhole:

Fashion designer makes clothes from milk
Germany – A young fashion designer from the German city of Hanover is revolutionizing high fashion by designing clothes with a staple she can find in her fridge — milk. Anke Domaske, 28, has developed a fabric called QMilch made from high concentrations of the milk protein casein — the first man-made fiber produced entirely without chemicals. “It feels like silk and it doesn’t smell — you can wash it just like anything else,” Domaske told Reuters. Made from all natural materials, the QMilch fabric is ecological but also has many health benefits, said Domaske, who also said the amino acids in the protein are antibacterial, anti-aging and can help regulate both blood circulation and body temperature. Thieves steal 50-foot-long bridge
Pennsylvania – As the value of scrap metal – including copper and steel – increases, thieves have been becoming more daring and less respectful of institutions such as churches and schools. But one group of thieves might have set the standard last week by stealing a 50-foot-long bridge. The bridge, around 20 feet wide, was in a wooded area along a railroad line in the township’s Covert’s Crossing region. Police said the thief or thieves used a cutting torch to dismantle the bridge where it sat. Full Article

In conversation I find myself observing that both we and the enemy are gaining on each other so it's impossible to say who's winning. These stories would seem to illustrate that anew. Technological advancement has absolutely nothing to do with a country's moral progress -- quite the contrary, it appears.

Personally I believe high technology mainly serves to anesthetize us to reality: We can achieve an accommodation with the theft of bridges, highway light poles and other infrastructure as long as it's reported with great glamor and fizz on our wide-screen color TVs as happening in some other city -- great drama, great fodder for small talk with friends! Even if it happens in one's own town, it's still merely quaint at this time because for most people it's still a given that "the government" will make it all better.

After writing all that, I caught this item linked two more down the page:

Steve Jobs Funeral To Be Picketed By Westboro Church

To be perfectly frank, I think Westboro is on the mark here. There's been much noise about how great Jobs was, how much he did for us, how much kickier and more lubricious his science made our lives, but nobody but me seems to be questioning whether tech advances are beneficial when morals go to rot.

It is indeed the rot of morals that has led to to the rot of politics, media, borders, and genuine "homeland security" -- the last because decent people refuse to stop wicked people from bombing innocent people and stealing their countries.

Decadence -- that's the word I'm looking for!!
