Why can I not stop laughing at the biggest bank run on earth

Personal opinions of the blogger.....

Forgive me, I know it's not nice to laugh at others' misfortunes, but when the "others" are the governments oppressing and ruining some of the best countries in the world, I can't help it. Especially when it comes to these entities looking to retrieve what belongs to them from the biggest, baddest of them all -- the yankee fedgov -- and getting the distinct impression it's given them the Bernie Madoff treatment.

Germany wants its gold back from beneath the filthy, decadent streets of Manhattan. Once upon a time there was total trust between Western powers to the extent they all agreed to a central holding area for their thick walls of gold brick -- right in New York City. Now everything's changing, nothing's fixed, Uncle Sam is revealed as the great charlatan of the universe, and it occurs to other countries they shouldn't trust him with two kopecks much less their entire piggy banks.

German Calls for Gold Repatriation Intensify As Fed Refuses to Allow Inspection

This story reads like a Mad Magazine satire -- but that would be overrating the adultness of the fedgov's behavior. Whom did it ever expect to fool with such grand larceny as gold-plating bricks of tungsten and passing them off as the real thing? (Superficially [?] related story from some moons ago.)

Personal opinions of the blogger.....  "Venezuela, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands" are the short list cited in the article. I classed them among the best countries in the world, and Venezuela, while highly troubled, isn't entirely undeserving of the title. Its head honcho Chavez is hated by the government-media complex here, but he does in some respects seem to be working for the good of his own people. I wish the same could be said of ameriKan politicians, but they only work for the imaginary good of other countries on the other side of the earth and bring violence and oppression at home.

Venezuela is also home to a remarkable wonderland of freedom called Margarita Island. Am told there are lots of freedom lovers living in that enchanted place, and that doings on the continent are a mere distant blur to them.
