Congressman can't make ends meet on $174,000 per year

This guy Rep. Sean Duffy made the wrong speech the wrong year in history.

Superficially he almost has a case. I love large families -- as long as they're ultra-conservative. I believe in large families of the right type and want those who head them to have every advantage. But this is ridiculous. He has 6 kids, boo hoo? I've known such clans who've gotten by quite nicely on a lot less than any six-figured budget. One has 6 kids, one 7 and one 8 -- and not a single socialist among them. I hope the same can be seed of the junior Duffys at present and in future.
What's socialism got to do with it? Only that high-paid congresscritters ARE socialism, and that's why they OOZE socialism and MANUFACTURE socialism all day every day -- among other classes of parasites.

...............I love it when a liberal demigod loses the support of his adherents. The Obama age is positively a jamboree in this regard. Here's the latest liberal celebrity to start throwing rocks at the Pretendent -- comedian John Stewart, real name Leibowitz:

...........Somebody's made a list of the most momentous "conservative" blogs.

http://politicsandfinance.blogspot.com/2011/04/list-of-top-150-conservative-blogs-and.html

We're not it, of course -- we're REAL-WORLD. Some entries are indeed real world, but I don't see a one that dares to help people stand up to the IRS or other predatory bureaucracies. (Starting the list with the totally phony Wall Street Journal? Please.....)

...........Now a couple of items from the other night when a storm knocked my internet out. As a patriot pundit, you sometimes hear yourself saying "I'm like the doctor -- I've seen it all." But sometimes there is news that stuns even the most jaded senses. The following headline is enough of a grossout, but how about this article's lead-in?!

A First in American History: 2011 Federal Aid Set to Overwhelm State General Funds

New research indicates 2011 will be the first year that federal aid becomes the largest component of state revenues. Already 27 states, including Louisiana, rely on federal aid as their primary source of funding....

Now for some classic income tax news. They've made a movie of oddball free-market diva Ayn Rand's widely respected political/economic novel Atlas Shrugged.

I say "oddball" with hopes of not offending any of her fans. Well, she was -- a mannish escapee from the USSR, real name Alisa Rosenbaum, with the most unusual nom de plume ever, come to America to preach an atheist gospel of sanctified self-interest and free-market economics. Unusual at least.... but she also embraced free love. Wikipedia's odd-shaped article on her doesn't happen to mention the love quadrangle involving Rand, her main disciple Nathaniel Branden (real name Blumenthal), his wife, and his future second wife! The article on Branden does cover it, however.

Believe it or not, there's a movie all about it!

I found a copy in a thrift shop -- the best way to get movies this side of Youtube, IMHO. VHS means getting to stop a flick right where you leave off (e.g. over lunch) and pick it up at the exact same spot an hour or a week later, too.
