Seemingly a fine (and hopeful) summary of gold situation

What to do with any money you have is a very complicated subject. Physical gold has done well from every vantage point since it came back to life with the dawn of new depression. The Mark Skousen article

Which Is Better: Gold Or Gold Stocks?
http://www.personalliberty.com/asset-and-wealth-protection/wealth/which-is-better-gold-or-gold-stocks/?eiid=&rmid=2011_11_11_PLA_[P11722334]&rrid=395202289

........may be the best assessment of metals in a while. I have nothing to invest in anything so didn't know gold stocks hadn't kept up with gold per se. Anybody who does have even a few hundred to invest, this relative lull in the gold and silver saga may be the best time remaining to jump in -- see link to gold and silver program at the PN homepage!

An interesting Bill Bonner column was added to the above column as a comment on November 10, 2011 at 7:22 am. It's ultimately pessimistic about the fate of the US -- who in their right mind isn't?

..........I went to the Anderson, S.C. hearing by a roster of Duke Energy politicians on the utility's intention to raise consumer rates by 17%. They were all such ladies and gentlemen you wanted to walk up and invite them for a glass of sherry, but the need was great for the truth to be told -- and tell it we did.

There may have been about 100 people there to either speak or spectate. Lots were very articulate and earnest -- only one or two were real shills. Shortly into the first three-minute venting by a citizen about the rate hike people were already applauding his criticisms of the plan. Much was heard about the evils and phoniness of the deal, often making reference to the fat salaries and compensation top executives receive.

The hike makes no sense at all. The company is running a good profit and brags in its website about its progress in this and that quarter of the year. I didn't mince words in my speech, but had heard the time limit was three minutes each. Here's what I prepared -- Used about 2/3 of it, somewhat watered down:

I'm Nelson Waller and I live downtown. The news that you want to hike rates so high is a shock! It would be in any age, but the fact that you want to do this in the midst if a depression is simply mind-numbing.

What have you done to deserve to gouge us? What have we your customers done to deserve this? I have heard NOTHING that could possibly justify this assault on our resources, especially since the only conclusion one can draw from it is that you have failed in your basic mission, which is to provide affordable power to consumers. Yes, my friends, that is what you're supposed to exist for as a corporation -- to deliver what the people need at a price they can handle. Are you not admitting to us with this proposal that you don't know your business?

We live in a time when every politician seems to be stuck in a job many positions higher than what his or her talents merit, with the result that politics and economics have gone straight to hell and are dragging everything else down with them. Most notably, every president is worse than the last. They all seem to exist to fleece the sheeple and drop bombs on total strangers on the other side of the world. Tell us, please -- are you the Bush or the Obama kind of executives?

Would you, Madame Chairman, please be good enough to reveal the value of your total salary and benefits package right here and now?

We your customers will be happy to talk rate hikes as soon as you people cut your top leaders' salaries down to $100,000 each OR LESS. Anybody can live on that kind of money, but only a few in that category work in semi-monopoly outfits that are demanding ever more blood from the public.

If you want more of our money, here's what you could do to first show your good faith: put a big sign up behind you at these hearings AND ON YOUR HOMEPAGE listing the salaries AND BENEFITS of your top executives -- and another chart of your corporate giving records. A strange pattern is remarked today: the economy goes to hell, but top executives' salaries, prestige and perks go up up up, whether they be in politics or the private sector. The private sector gets less private all the time as mega-corporations are constantly in bed with the politicos and their owners.

I used the word DEPRESSION earlier and pride myself on being among the few calling it what it really is. How is it that the supposedly greatest, freest, most prosperous country in the world is going down in financial flames as we speak? Maybe people like you had better look in the mirror for the answer -- and contemplate that when the economy is totally ruined by your kind of greed and corruption, you high rollers are going to be out of a country to live in, the same as working people.

There is a youtube video entitled Obama: My Plan Makes Electricity Rates Necessarily Skyrocket in which the so-called president of the United States is seen and heard in close-up saying QUOTE "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket..... coal powered plants, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were whatever the industry was they would have to reftrofit their operations. That would cost money, they would pass that money onto consumers." UNQUOTE Is that what's going on here -- sheer uncut Obamanomics? You're proud of your "community" involvements -- what have you ever done to promote free enterprise over socialism, dismantlement of the Federal Reserve, and the restoration of Constitution real money such that none of the horrors we're seeing could even exist?

Don't raise our rates. If you do, everyone will know that YOU have failed your customers, or you are cannibals -- it has to be one or the other. Don't come to us for more money -- leave rates where they are or find someone else competent run Duke Power and hand it over to them, please.

Three fellow citizens warmly thanked my for my tirade at the break -- two of them black despite my busting of Obama.

Good news, continued? Banks hemorrhage depositors to CUs

650,000 Americans Joined Credit Unions Last Month — More Than In All Of 2010 Combined
http://thinkprogress.org/special/2011/11/03/360804/650000-americans-credit-unions/

Crunching numbers in relation to the larger population can be fun. 650,000 out of 300 million is 461. If only half of them are of banking age, that would be more like 230. Six hundred fifty G's is also 1700 people per day year round. One of you mathematicians out there well have to judge whether these figures are possible, but the real ones (whatever they be) must surely impress the banksters.

The poor bank moguls have a complicated life. They give us the gift of inflation, and now people are having less and less cash to deposit -- and it's intrinsically worth less and less! They swallowed their pride and accepted stimulus money "from the government", but now are so hard put they "have to" increase fees, driving business away. Unfortunately, this new development doesn't help tax patriots -- The Great One always asserted that CUs offer no more privacy than banking chains.

Starving the big banks certainly seems a great idea, though -- if one the sheeple could only come up with under extreme pressure. I went without bank accounts for my first decade here in SC, and now have only one very small account which was just ground down past zero by fees including minimum balance. Just think, if it were mathematically possible for 650,000 people to desert the banksters every month -- which they won't, Bank of America's new gougings being such a new subject -- that would be a total of 4,380,000 new credit union customers, or one out of every 68 ameriKan men, women and children.

I have a dream.... a lot of that kind, actually.

Iceland cuts its own path through icy waters; fracking causes earthquakes including 1,000 each year in Oklahoma!

Anybody see the show on Iceland's crisis and gradual recovery on TV tonight? Young people there, apparently having been reared by TV as here, went on a mad borrowing spree. the three-car family became the norm! Then came the crash, riots and breaking of windows at the Parliament building. From there people have gotten educated fast -- and it could be exciting:

Key Lesson From Iceland Crisis: “Let Banks Fail”
http://www.blacklistednews.com/Key_Lesson_From_Iceland_Crisis%3A_“Let_Banks_Fail”/16459/0/0/0/Y/M.html

That headline would be heresy to the ameriKan power mafia. How will they ever bring about a monopoly economy if nature and basic arithmetic are allowed to have their way with big banks!?

Any parent knows that you have to let your kids find things out on their own sometimes, and suffer the consequences -- certainly that pampering them is the best route toward ruining them. Lots of the politicians tormenting us have children. Don't they know anything about self-reliance, responsibility and basic "fairness" -- one of the words they bleat about most, but implicitly have the least interest in.

I fear the politicians and banksters are our children, and their need occasionally to stand in the corner has a backlog a quarter of a millennium long.

Government is not God!

..........Whoa, too much good news! How's this to even it out?

U.S. Government Confirms Link Between Earthquakes and Hydraulic Fracturing
http://oilprice.com/Energy/Natural-Gas/U.S.-Government-Confirms-Link-Between-Earthquakes-and-Hydraulic-Fracturing.html

Of course, when the USG admits it's blown it on something major, that's good news too -- as is the fact that we still have the freedom to report it. But what can we do now for enough oil for us to keep on having a nice shiny new plastic bag for each item of produce at the market - and for Lady Gaga fans to go on ordering quintillions of her CDs and DVDs?

My life requires a lot of crude -- Now that The Great One is gone, I live at least 45 minutes from most gatherings of my compatriots for any purpose -- but for what it may be worth, I never throw out a plastic grocery bag that still has some life or use in it, even those slightly dirty from groceries.

North Korean cruise line a great snapshot of socialist lifestyle; Katrina's tacit lies

This from NewsOfTheWeird.com, a site that is apolitical yet politically quite useful:

The North Koreans called it a "cruise ship" and tried to establish a business model to attract wealthy tourists from China, but to the New York Times reporter on board in September, the 40-year-old boat was more like a "tramp steamer" on which "vacationers" paid the equivalent of $470 to "enjoy" five days and nights at sea. More than 200 people boarded the "dim" and "musty" vessel, "sometimes eight to a room with floor mattresses" and iffy bathrooms. The onboard "entertainment" consisted not of shuffleboard but of "decks of cards" and karaoke. Dinner "resembled a mess hall at an American Army base," but with leftovers thrown overboard (even though some of it was blown back on deck). The trip was capped, wrote the Times, by the boat's crashing into the pier as it docked, knocking a corner of the structure "into a pile of rubble." [New York Times, 9-13-2011]

Sometimes you have to wonder about the free world, though:

Though South Korean children score among the highest in the world on standardized reading and math tests, their success comes at a price, according to an October Time magazine dispatch. They supposedly suffer "educational masochism" -- punishing themselves by overstudy, especially in high school preparing for university admissions tests (a process so competitive that even test-coaching schools are picky about accepting students). Earlier this year, to curb the "masochism," the government began enforcing a 10 p.m. curfew on coaching-school activities, and in Seoul, a six-man team conducts nightly after-hours raids on classes that run late-night sessions behind shuttered windows. (Ironically, Time acknowledged, American educational reformers want U.S. students to study harder, like Asians do, but Asian reformers want their students to relax, like American students.) [Time, 9-25-2011]

In America, the quest for perfectly straight teeth can lead to orthodontia bills of thousands of dollars, but in Japan, a dental "defect" -- slightly crooked canine teeth -- makes young women more fetching, even "adorable," say many men. Women with the "yaeba" look have canines pushed slightly forward by the molars behind them so that the canines develop a fang-like appearance. One dental salon, the Plaisir, in Tokyo, recently began offering non-permanent fixtures that replicate the look among straight-toothed women. [CNN, 9-30-2011]

.........We have a great new PN helper who is part Cajun. She recounts vacation trips from SC to her ancestral New Orleans area growing up: the return if these kinspeople to rural Lousiana would be celebrated with a week-long party. They were highly musical folks, so she was living Zydeco long before it became a fad for desperately jaded aging yuppies in the 1990s. These Cajuns would catch their own seafood, cook it up and have real jambalay', catfish pie, big fun on the bayou." I was incredulous that crayfish would ever work as serious eating, but she made me a believer just by her description. C's father was one of 16 children and their lust for living bade to overcome great tragedy: their father died when C's father was only eight years old.

She readily affirms that the only thing that killed New Orleans in 2005 was the ruin-by-neglect of the levees off NOLA's coast.... and that this was no accident or "act of God" but the result of decades of planned, systematic, deliberate, knowing negligence on the part of the authorities.

For a great many years, she said, both people and some politicians had called for the levees to be maintained properly, but to no avail. Other "public servants" had other ideas, and as seems to happen most of the time nowadays, the latter prevailed against all common sense, decency and law. You know, sort of like how ameriKa's bridges are falling to pieces and her schools are turning into mere indoctrination centers while "our" noble troops work every day to shore up (and blow up) infrastructure in half the countries of the Mideast? (While also building and bombing schools in those places.)

If Obummer is really president, Hurricane Katrina is really to blame for the temporary death of New Orleans, Biloxi and other Gulf Coast spots. Sure, it might seem foolish to have developed and inhabited an area so far below sea level and so close to the sea.... if we were still using the technology of ancient Rome. But we're not, so if the bureaucrats had done their jobs right, Katrina might have been just one more Gulf hurricane that year.

C pointed out that one or more lowland countries in Europe have lived just fine via land reclamation for generations, so the the nature of New Orleans' development is not the culprit. Alas for us, ameriKan politicians don't work for the intrinsic good of their constituents -- quite the contrary. I fear Holland's and Denmark's politicians have got the same brain-killing bug and those countries will soon be in danger of having Katrinas of their own soon.

And yes, C said, this murderous negligence by the authorities has meant the wrecking of old ways of life. The old family properties are simply gone where her cousins used to live, work, play and revel; many of them left for Houston and other refuges during the crisis, and can only visit the wholesome Eden they knew in memory.

This, too, is the nature of communism. It dreams great dreams and launches great world-girdling crusades, but what happens to the home front? The people that built the nation that makes these dragon-slaying adventures possible are dislocated and deracinated almost as much as if they were refugees racing half-naked on foot from North Vietnam to South in during that "conflict". It would be nice to call the New Orleans crisis unthinking neglect on the part of our overlords but they clearly love nothing more than wiping the middle class out.

The way the middle class applauds its own annihilation must be rich reward indeed for these vampires.

Oh -- on a friend's TV tonight a talking head actually said the word "communist" in a news spiel. Wonder how many viewers had any clue what she was talking about?

"Civility", cont.: no H-O-N-E-S-T-Y allowed during any prim, proper political patronization party

OH! Isn't this politician SWEET and GLIB. Her very name, Elizabeth Warren, is a paragon of Anglo-Saxon mellifluity. How can one do anything but love her? Nothing she could ever do would offend, because she is so gentle, so kind, you'd never know she was a pretty major Obama henchwoman!

Video: Heckler Calls Dem a “Socialist Whore,” Obama “Foreign-Born”
http://visiontoamerica.org/5325/video-heckler-calls-dem-a-socialist-whore-obama-foreign-born/

Don't miss her picture -- her blonde hair in an 'umble Mennonitish style, her friendly blue eyes, her ever-youthful skin like a strawberry milkshake:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Warren

We all want to be polite like the good little boys and girls we were in kindergarten. Civility is in itself essential to any kind of political stability. The question is when civility means total Stepfordization, homogenization, the sheeple becoming a sort of imitation vanilla all together, a blank slate on which sweeeeet, gentle communists can write any obscenities they want. In this case, the warm and tender politician is a witch from hell, as revealed when she benignly, blessedly has a prophet hauled off by the fuzz for daring to call her and her so-called president exactly what they are.

From the article:

Warren has claimed to be the intellectual author of the Occupy Wall Street movement, which is a pretty thin accomplishment indeed. At a recent meeting in Brockton, Massachusetts, a heckler demanded to know if this were so. Saying he had been unemployed since February 2010, he wanted to know why Warren supported job-killing government borrowing, spending, and regulation. Warren replied that she supported Obama’s “jobs bill” — apparently, just like God. Outraged, the man called her a “socialist whore” and stated, “Your boss” is “foreign-born.”

While no one can excuse his choice of language, one thing comes out clearly from this exchange: Like so many other average Americans, this man has a far better grasp on which policies generate wealth than the president and his most influential advisers.

I think it's time to stop worrying about people's "choice of language" if it's 100% truthful. THEY call US every evil name in the book, working overtime to establish freedom lovers in the sheeple's mind as Public Enemy #1. THEY allow THEIR "hecklers" to TAKE OVER OUR MEETINGS and shout down our speakers; the police are kind enough to escort the silenced to safety, but not to guarantee their First Amendment rights like they did for the anti-Constitutional Ms Warren.

For VisionToAmerica to wring its hands over this "heckler's" choice of language seems to me a major symptom of the problem. It amounts to a pulling back on the reins in the great political horse race. The opposition is throwing bricks and smoke bombs at us, killing and imprisoning not a few, but we still don't want to offend them too bad. While we're on the subject of words, I do wish they wouldn't call Obummer the "president".

It may be significant -- and is at least amusing -- how two similar populist news sources cover another story this morning:

http://visiontoamerica.org/5321/white-house-rejects-subpoena-for-solyndra-documents/

In the body of CowboyBytes' email, the link's wording was "Obama Defies Congressional Subpoena", but oh boy, their actual URL is less gutsy:

http://cowboybyte.com/1687/white-house-fires-back-at-overbroad-subpoena-on-solyndra-documents/

Regrettably, I don't ever see these Cowboys calling somebody a socialist whore either, a term that describes not only most Congresscritters but most government employees right down to the Anderson County Council.

Let's not be too hard on conservative Christian thinker Gary DeMar's Vision to America site. It's one of the few I have a daily subscription to. A few more of its recent gems:

http://visiontoamerica.org/5323/ayn-rand-did-not-understand-capitalism/

This one is especially intriguing, because Ayn Rand, while at least a staunch anti-communist, has ever struck me as humanist oddball in some ways. At the Charlotte PN meeting last week we had a short but rich discussion on what exactly it is the Occupy movement is protesting. Some were confused since "capitalism" is one of the participants' main targets. I tried to explain that capitalism is a dangerous word; people confuse it with free enterprise, but our movement's best minds have maintained that capitalism really boils down to those having the most capital for political and business projects invariably using them to run and ruin whole societies. Monopolism might be a good synonym.

Capitalism is what ruined Russia. In that instance, the communist were the ones who aggregated all capital to themselves and used it, well, for the same things ameriKa's fedgov is so busy doing now -- playing world policeman on angel dust, waging no-win "wars" in hellholes like Afghanistan and building a ruthless police state over the heads of its own constituents.

Free enterprise is the thing. Capitalism was once synonymous with it for working purposes in this country, but nowadays we know that the runaway, lawless capitalism of the multinational corporations kills free enterprise and destroys the value of money through its selfish support of sick monetary policies. It is communist capitalism that has moved millions of American jobs offshore and is now prating endlessly about government's magical ability and grave obligation to do "job creation".

Communist capitalism makes war on small business (notably the family farm) and leads to faceless mega-industrialization of the work world and (for instance) tomatoes lacking meaningful color, taste and nutrients -- a gauge I use in vetting societies just as some people use the "Big Mac principle".

Ayn Rand (real name Alisa Rosenbaum) was a pro-abortion atheist whose ideas on freedom came to include "open marriage" as her young disciple Nathanael Branden (real name Blumenthal) inflamed her passions. She helped inspire the capital-L Libertarian movement into existence, whereby another gang of atheist relativists -- for all their good points -- stole another great word from proper English. Such types have always borrowed heavily from Biblical ethics and principles; we can use and cannibalize their work for Christ, too.

PN Executive Director reports on the tax court seminar

I asked the boss how the event went, and she replied:

Awesome! We had 23 people attend plus me and Kathy. 3-5 people didn’t show for various reasons.

What a day! WHEW!

Herb recorded the whole thing so we can do a 4 cd set. Sell it for $100 or with Power point and case law for $160

Mortons are lovely down to earth "right wing extremists". Stayed up till midnight on Friday talking with them.

Got to restaurant at 8am to find Herb and Carla already hard at work. Our AZ guy arrived 5 minutes later and he helped out getting things set up.

Our waitress jumped right in with OJ and Coffee.

Zeb, Alan and Sam arrived around 8:30 and helped out with book table set up since Gerry had some of the boxes in his car that we couldn’t initially fit in Carla’s car with she and her husband and me.

The rest of the crowd filtered in around 8:45-9am, including Susan who helped out with book table.

Zeb did MC responsibilities, Hal started us with prayer, Tom helped with unpacking and repacking of books and videos and loading up Sherry’s car to bring everything home.

I still have to evaluate the net monetary total to see how much we brought in.

Came home Sat night, unpacked my suitcase, took a hot bath and went to bed!!

Of course could hardly talk Sat night and Sunday. Was barely able to sing at low volume level. Much better today.

Had lunch with Pam and Sonya and I’ve been hard at work on client cases since then, with a break to finish up the paypal total and write this email. J

Need to “do more work!” :-D

Simpsonville PN tomorrow. I’ve got TV and I’ve got gas. Would like to stop at Office Depot on the way.. Don’t know if Bill is coming. He’d like to if he can get a ride to Arby's.

You can thank God that he sent Kris Anne to take the reins from Dr. Clarkson. What would this country be without somebody to lead the PN's heroic work, keep local clubs alive, and monitor events like the above? This organization is well into its historic fourth decade of operation, and that is not something you can say about many other freedom organizations. The JBS has us beat, but not by much.

Why not organize a local PN club in your area? We are the whole-truth tax Constitutional study group that leaves the Flat (earth) Tax and laughably misnamed "Fair Tax" in the dust. We demand a return to the Constitution, and that cuts out a shocking amount of what our alleged public servants do all day!

Celente outdoes Nostradamus

You've seen him interviewed in Youtube, maybe on TV. He's rather fatalistic, which is in a sense welcome at a time when most regular talking heads are still keeping people giddily doped up on what will become of Kim Kardashian's marriage to what's-his-name.

Gloom and doom surrounds us in the political realm and people need to admit it on TV. When they assail the perpetrators of the current politico-economic situation as well, as Celente does, it's quite a luxury.

His ability to predict the future is amazing. We can feel reassured when people do so so usefully. How he does prognosticates in such detail is no less mysterious than the days when Michel de Nostredame was cooking up his smoky quatrains -- actually more so, in view of how vague the latter are!

Celente's organization (zwest@trendsresearch.com) has sent out the following. Celente is ultimately an optimist -- I believe he predicts that (as hinted below) a new wave of technical accomplishment is going to bring a huge advance in people power. This would be in line with another great prophet, Dr. Robert Clarkson, who always asserted that we have the personal computer to thank for the lack of perceived economic depression through the 1990s -- it made life a lot cheaper for many classes of people. He used to assert that legal secretaries were in danger of obsolescence because of easy boilerplating of documents on hard drive.

Nostradamus, “Occupy” This!

KINGSTON, NY, 3 November 2011 — The passage below is not from a recent New York Times or Wall Street Journal reporting on “Occupy Wall Street” – it was written in 1995 by Gerald Celente. In Celente’s best-selling book Trends 2000 (Warner Books,1997), he predicted a watershed event that lay a decade and a half in the future:

“They flooded the streets. Day and night, they marched … As the demonstrations mobilized and gained momentum, the students were joined by their uncollegiate peers – the unemployed, the underemployed, the unemployable…

No one was sure what had turned the protestors into marchers, or what had pointed them in the direction of Wall Street. All that was known for sure was that a mob of adrenaline-pumped young people funneled into the narrow streets of the Financial District …

In his prescient forecast of the march on Wall Street, Celente not only recognized, but analyzed what today’s editorial writers and TV pundits are currently debating.

America was not supposed to be a country where the rich grew richer and everyone else grew poorer. Finally the well-publicized income disparity between the rich and the shrinking middle class and growing underclass served as the predicted flashpoint …”

Also in 1997’s Trends 2000, Celente envisaged a new, Internet-based network he named “Technotribalism,” which was “capable of uniting and galvanizing the world electronically.”

“This time the news was posted on the StudentNet. Sympathy protests simultaneously combusted on college campuses and in cities around the nation.”

Celente’s “StudentNet” forecast would eventually surface as the social networking megatrend we now know as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.

FAST FORWARD A DECADE

In the Summer 2010 Trends Journal, Celente forecast a 21st century variant of “Workers of the World Unite.”

“The people are fully aware of the enormous bailouts going to the ‘too big to fails’ that they are being forced to pay for. We will see social unrest growing in all nations which are facing sovereign debt crisis, the most obvious being Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, the Ukraine, Hungary, followed by the United Kingdom and the United States.”

And in the December 2010 Trends Journal, he wrote:

“The well publicized news of bank bailouts, billions in executive bonuses, and a spectrum of financial hardships heaped upon those who could least afford them – by those who could easily afford them – had the public seething … especially the young … They’re mad as hell and aren’t going to take it anymore.”

Celente has been so right, so often, about so many trends, it’s no wonder the New York Post said, “If Nostradamus were alive today, he'd have a hard time keeping up with Gerald Celente.”

But since Nostradamus is long dead and since Celente has out-predicted him in unambiguous, quatrain-free language, it’s easy to understand why so many people turn to him for insights into what in world is going to happen next.

Find out “What’s Next” in the new Autumn Trends Journal.
