It appears THE ONION is back!

..........and satirizing the oh-so-smug TED Talks that you'll bump into via wimp.com or BrasscheckTV if you're not careful. Much needed!

Using Social Media To Cover For Lack Of Original Thought

TED Talks' motto is "Ideas worth sharing". I suspect they count on the average viewer's brain to reflexively add "hint hint" to each talk's title, as in "Hey, our ideas are so great you're going to instantly forward them to your entire list -- aren't you?"

The Onion has a proven record of skewering targets most in need of it -- and a few that are totally undeserving. One idly imagines that the TED people plotted a further scripting of the average ameriKan's response to their stuff that goes something like this:

"TED speakers are so suave, so self-assured. The cinematography, graphics and general ambience surrounding each TED presentation is so alluring that I'm basically going to copy their speakers' thinking, aren't I."

Proudly listed among past TED speakers by Wikipedia: "Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, Al Gore, Gordon Brown, Richard Dawkins, Bill Gates, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and many Nobel Prize winners". Missing in action: Robert Clarkson, Irwin Schiff, Norman Finkelstein, me, you, and lots of truly worthy thinkers, speakers and doers.
