Swedes edge closer to cashlessness

Sweden is an interesting place. People who've been there say it's where socialism really works -- taxes are very high but you have cradle-to-grave benefits of high quality. On the other hand, Sweden's destroyed its borders just like every other European or Europe-derived country and is paying the price in vastly worsening crime and chaos. A brilliant country containing lots of wonderful people, Sweden has also managed to lead the way in decadence in various ways, not least being the longtime home of insanely pseudo-intellectual filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, one of the prime culture mulchers of the last 60 years worldwide.

The latest news from the land of smorgasbord is oxymoronic:

Sweden moving towards cashless economy

It will be quite interesting to see how far this situation gets. The problem is that there are always poor, old or illiterate people who basically have to use cash, and that has been posited as a reason ameriKa will never go cashless. We are a lot more farther along in the forms of ruin mentioned above, so perhaps what won't work here will do so in Sweden -- at least until the great, inevitable worldwide funny money crash arrives in another year or three.

Or less.
