Is Greenville the next Detroit? Is Independence Day the new Devil's Night?

They said they wanted equality and we gave them supremacy. They said they wanted black history month, we turned all history black, Mexican, Jewish and "Asian". They cried for an end to lynching, and now every town is literally going to be a war zone.

Strictly by coincidence this excellent meditation came in the other day. This was supposed to be the age of peace, harmony and mutual understanding, mind you -- according to the celebrities and promoters that brought use the Aquarian Age!

Dear nelson,

Introducing Palmetto Liberty PAC

A turf war

In 1964 Ronald Reagan gave a speech endorsing Barry Goldwater for president. I recommend that you follow the above link and listen to it. He said, “You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down… up to … freedom … or down to totalitarianism.”

This battle between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party makes me think of a poor family living in an inner city neighborhood watching a turf war between two rival gangs. The gangs don’t care about the family or the neighborhood. The only things these thugs care about are their own power and influence. If we want to win this battle for liberty and freedom, we must stop participating in this turf war by supporting one gang or the other.

It’s time to look at the record of the individual!

Political class vs. productive citizens

The fight between Democrats and Republicans is a distraction from the real fight between those of the political class who benefit from government control and those who are productive citizens who wish to be free of government oppression.

Are we still defending one of the gangs in Columbia or are we committed to fight against any thug who won’t defend and protect our ability to be productive members of society?

It is time to remove Republicans who support the status quo from office by beating them in the June primary election with a Republicans who will truly defend our liberty from intrusive government control.

Blind allegiance to a political gangster because of his party affiliation is foolhardy. Support of or opposition to an incumbent politician must be based on their voting record. Propaganda, promises, and rhetoric mean nothing. They are only the marketing tools of the politician.

The end product that really matters is their vote in Columbia! Without that, everything else is just empty promises.

There are always those who crave power

From the beginning of time, there have always been those who crave power and influence over others. From Cain, who wanted to take the flocks of Abel, to Caesar, who wanted to control the entire world. There is Nebuchadnezzar, who wanted to do the same. Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, Genghis Kahn, King George III, Napoleon, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Wilhelm, Stalin, Lenin, Hirohito, Chiang Kai Shek, Kim Jong Il and Pol Pot.

The list goes on, but it’s not just limited to the infamous of the world. We have many here in South Carolina in our own General Assembly. While certainly not rising to the magnitude and villainy of those listed above, these “Republicans” consistently vote for larger government, higher spending, and more regulations in an effort to build their own power base and realm of influence.

Palmetto Liberty will be posting a report card soon that will detail these votes from the Journals of the House and Senate of South Carolina. It will identify these big government Republicans. The record shows, with few exceptions, that these men routinely vote for policies and programs that keep South Carolina firmly under the control of the gangsters in Columbia.

These kinds of people are always with us and always grasping for more power, more influence, and more control. So what stands between these political thugs and our liberty? Liberty only exists when there are enough people with the will, education, motivation, organization, and power to defend it. G Edward Griffin recently said, “You cannot defend liberty without power!” Where do we get power do defend liberty?

Personal integrity

First, take personal responsibility for what you can control. Be good. Be moral. Be generous. Be thankful. Be kind. Our society, based on individual liberty, cannot survive if we cannot control ourselves.

If we cannot control ourselves, then people will look to government to control us. People who will not discipline themselves invite the intrusive control of government. Personal character is ultimately the most important thing we can have to protect liberty and freedom. Before we get concerned about the rascals in Washington and Columbia, let’s get control of the rascal in the mirror.

Grass roots group is a tool, not an end

Next, find a group that fights for your passion and join it. Get on their list. Communication is vital to our freedom. You must be kept in the communications loop so you will know when our liberty is under attack. Sign up and get active. E-mail communication is critical to an effective movement.

Then, keep your organization focused on the goal of liberty. Be the watch dog for your group. Remember, the goal is not building your group. That is only a way to the goal.

Stop the turf wars between groups

I have noticed something that really worries me. I am seeing the beginnings of turf wars springing up between the grass roots groups. This can not happen. We cannot become like the Republican Party and Democratic Party, so busy fighting our turf wars that we forget the battle for liberty; so divided that we are easily conquered or just plain ignored.

Don’t let turf wars start between your organization and another. Look for ways you can work together with others. Overlook differences and build on common interests.

I’m not talking about merging together under one group. We don’t need that. For those who fight against us, one group is much easier us to discredit and marginalize. We don’t need one group. We do need all the various groups to communicate with each other and cooperate in concert for liberty.

Additionally, you will notice that the longer you work with people in your organization, the more differences you will see. Overlook them. Don’t let differences over issues that are not central to the current battle for liberty destroy your ability to work on issues where you do agree. What we are doing is vitally important. We cannot… we must not… let personal differences get in the way of liberty.

Our founders had many differences. They fought tremendously against each other once our independence was won. But against the common enemy of the King of England, they united and won liberty and freedom for themselves and for us. The enemy wishes to divide and break down, to build walls and separate. We must unite and build up and lift and support each other.

An Unfortunate Reality

Unfortunately, in today’s world, winning the battle also requires money. The enemy has lots of it. And those who want the government to continue to control your liberty and freedom, to their benefit, will continue to use their money to maintain that control.

Thomas Paine is credit with saying, “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”

Think twice before donating to a political party. Remember the turf wars? Don’t perpetuate them. Contribute directly to a candidate who will support the cause of freedom and fight against the grasping hand of government control. Contribute to your organization if it is effectively fighting the good fight. And if, after all that, you still have money left to give, please consider partnering with our organization, Palmetto Liberty PAC.

Palmetto Liberty PAC

Palmetto Liberty PAC was founded by a group of citizens who have refused to sit back and accept the status quo – to play the game by the establishment’s rules.

Our goals are twofold:
  1. To train and support candidates for the State House and State Senate that are recruited by local activists.
  2. To educate, inform, and equip the grassroots to get involved in state government.

The candidates we support must demonstrate their ability to stand up to support constitutionally-limited government and fiscal responsibility. They must have an uncompromising willingness to defend your right to life, liberty, and property.

We are working to make South Carolina the most free state in the nation. You can find out more at PalmettoLiberty.com.

Just to summarize:

  1. Help recruit and be ready to support a candidate to run against a scoundrel in office who won’t take a stand for liberty, regardless of party.
  2. Insist on personal character for yourself and elected officials.
  3. Join a grass roots group and get active.
  4. Don’t participate in turf wars between groups or individuals, stay focused on the real fight for liberty.
  5. Foster cooperation between groups and individuals.
  6. Open your wallet and give financial support to liberty.

There is power in numbers. I’m sure there are more of us than there are of them. Ben Franklin is reported as saying, “We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately.” Separately, we can do nothing! Together, we have the power to do anything!

Please join us at Palmetto Liberty PAC.

For liberty,
Talbert J. Black, Jr.
Founder, Palmetto Liberty PAC
