.........yet spine-tingling. Is Ed Asner, heretofore one of the most hateful liberals around, actually sitting there telling people to doubt the network news 9/11 gospel? Apparently so, and one could not ask for a more dramatic addition to the real world, at least on this one issue.
But they're talking as if it's totally unknown what caused the fall of WTC Building 7. What's the big deal? Isn't that building most famous for being demolished by its owner Larry Silverstein in response to the destruction of the twin towers?
Everybody saw the twin towers fall, and everybody knew -- KNEW -- it was a meticulously planned demolition. Come on, this was fifty-six years after the Empire State Building survived an airplane hit, with construction technology advancing continuously for half a century in between! "Nature abhors a straight line," and the absolute symmetry of the towers' fall is enough to make a line of Rockettes jealous. Jet fuel, my eye. Please, no more insults to the intelligence, no more big fish stories where statesmanship and media truth should be!
Shortly after the twin towers fell, their owner was seen wherever there were cathode ray tubes declaring his decision to demolish WTC 7 because of collateral supposed damage from the towers. Meet one of the most side-slappingly CRAZY paragraphs in all of Wikipedia:
Silverstein stated in a September 2002 PBS documentary, 'America Rebuilds', "I remember getting a call from the fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and then we watched the building collapse." Conspiracy theorists claim this saying meant actively demolishing the building using explosives presumably stored in advance in the building. Initially, however, this was understood as a call to simply stop the fire fighting efforts and watch the building collapse due to the fires with no people in the building at the time.

That's where Wikipedia leaves it. It mocks conspiracy "theorists", gives a laughable explanation of how Silverstein's prattling was "initially understood", leaves the issue hanging in midair, and goes its merry way profiling the toad-faced real estate genius who managed to double his already astronomical insurance payout on the towers.
Yeah, sure. People died in WTC 1 and 2 so you tear 7 down. (If my house burned down, I'd destroy another structure 200 feet away too -- wouldn't you?) But 7 was not an inferno -- it's hard to see any real fire or damage in any picture or footage of just before its demise. "Watch the building collapse due to the fires"? How could they ever expect to get away with such bull?
Wikip's article on Building 7 itself only adds fuel to the flames:
The building was equipped with sprinkler system, but had many single-point vulnerabilities for failure: the sprinkler system required manual initiation of the electrical fire pumps, rather than being a fully automatic system; the floor-level controls had a single connection to the sprinkler water riser; and the sprinkler system required some power for the fire pump to deliver water. Also, water pressure was low, with little or no water to feed sprinklers.
I didn't know the Three Stooges had become architects? Thus is bunk. Every day the lies remain standing is a day in which ameriKa could have done some real living but didn't.

I would like to suggest to you emphatically that the 9-11 truth movement is the most pressing issue of the peace & justice movement today. He's another RBC in a way -- his starting point was realizing he'd been had by his own government as a navy SEAL in Vietnam. The View girls have no choice but to admit the Governator makes a lot of sense; the audience reaction favors his remarks vastly more than their challenges. Plain English revue, continued: devastating book (and priceless review) on Sarah Palin
You who are in the excellent PN egroups see regular links there to updates of the Carolina Journal. This print newspaper ranges from outstanding to PC-lite. When last at PN HQ, though, I found the August issue notably better. One really stunning inclusion is by CR editor, which has been reprinted in numerous other places, like here:

South Carolina native Lawrence Wilkerson is a retired United States Army Colonel and former chief of staff to United States Secretary of State Colin Powell. In another blog I've scored him for too-weak truthtelling about Boy George Bush and his despicable warmongering. Everybody alive in 2010 -- EVERYBODY without exception -- knew as they heard the Busheviks' ranting their "weapons of mass destruction" meme into existence that it was a big fat lie. Bush, Cheney, Powell, the Democrats, the media, the people watching on their sets at home, the schoolchildren. They knew it, or they -- at least the adults -- need psychiatric help. I dispute the currently faddish liberal notion of civility (guess I'm not a very good "civil society organization") and call for everybody to start calling these politicians what they are -- traitors, mass murderers, genocidal maniacs, thieves, liars, monsters. Certainly Cheney is a hateful, frightening psychopath, a creature with less human content than a moon rock. We fail to see these fine qualities in our politicians at our mortal peril.

Marrying into the fabulously wealthy and freakishly powerful Bush clan is not a particularly virtuous act, and sticking by her Bushman all these years is nothing more than what presidential wives are paid to do. But alas for her on Judgment Day, to know about a political crime and not blow the whistle is called misprision; we must pray she receives the full reward for it in the next life since nobody in this life is going to even call the old bat before a grand jury, the way things stand now. The spouse of the most Republican man alive since Lincoln, barbarian Barbara supports the "right" to kill one's unborn children in supposed contradiction of "Poppy's" position on the issue..... The Robin Hood tax = just more robbing hoods

.......sounded pretty heady. So, it's a tax on the big banks where it's needed most, huh?
Wrong again. The rest of the blurb shows it's simply more zombie leftist brainwashing of humanity, young and otherwise:

A drum roll, please, and some violins, maybe some violin violence in celebration of where liberal "civility" leads.
No doubt this term has the same horoscope as "community organizer". Hey, anything with the word "civil" or "society" or "community" in it has to be beatific, no? Anybody out there want to start a Sustainable Society for Civil Communities?
But my real point wanted to be how great libbers are at organizing, theater, effect, affect (n.), symbols etc. even as they're publicizing something absolutely awful and poisonous. We conservatives need to start imitating the former because that's how you reach more of the people more of the time.

It's "Shockingly right" because -- in my opinion -- the Star-Spangled Banner is one of the worst possible representations of what America should be about. AH -- hear me out please. I love the tune and words as much as anybody else at a purely sentimental/sedimental level. When I was in "middle" school I was called upon to play it before every assembly. I love the memory of what all that once meant to me, even as a clueless young conservative at that time, groping in the socio-political darkness of Zoo Zersey.
But the real world has turned out to be the exact opposite of that. The "American" flag has come to signify the violent and bestial new world order, and the national anthem is grotesquely fitting: face it, it IS about war, even if only the rare sane case of 1812.
Please note that the only verse ever sung (e.g. crooned, belted, styled and murdered at ballgames) is a question, not a statement of American ideals. The other verses were fine fine fine for the early 19th century, but poorly suited, I think, for their purpose if permanently carved in stone.
I want a peaceable America. Peace is patriotic. Yes, we must be willing to lay our lives on the line if our country is attacked, but the actual military history of ameriKa is mostly not much to be proud of by pure Constitutional and Biblical standards. So what song would I prefer?

It's "Shockingly right" because -- in my opinion -- the Star-Spangled Banner is one of the worst possible representations of what America should be about. AH -- hear me out please. I love the tune and words as much as anybody else at a purely sentimental/sedimental level. When I was in "middle" school I was called upon to play it before every assembly. I love the memory of what all that once meant to me, even as a clueless young conservative at that time, groping in the socio-political darkness of Zoo Zersey.
But the real world has turned out to be the exact opposite of that. The "American" flag has come to signify the violent and bestial new world order, and the national anthem is grotesquely fitting: face it, it IS about war, even if only the rare sane case of 1812.
Please note that the only verse ever sung (e.g. crooned, belted, styled and murdered at ballgames) is a question, not a statement of American ideals. The other verses were fine fine fine for the early 19th century, but poorly suited, I think, for their purpose if permanently carved in stone.
I want a peaceable America. Peace is patriotic. Yes, we must be willing to lay our lives on the line if our country is attacked, but the actual military history of ameriKa is mostly not much to be proud of by pure Constitutional and Biblical standards. So what song would I prefer?

That’s 1,963 towns total. But Luca Sellari, the mayor of Filettino, Italy, is fighting back. Rather than give into the national government’s demands, Sellari wants his central Italian town of 598 to become an independent state under a monarch. Who would be the monarch, you ask? Well, Sellari, of course. It’s everyone’s dream to be a prince, he told The New York Times.

The town, which would become a principality, already has a new coat of arms that are on T-shirts and even bottles of liqueur. But can he do this? A number of towns and regions have printed their own coin in these tough economic times, and the law, of course, is different depending on where you’re located. (In the U.S., local money cannot resemble federal bills or be promoted as legal tender.) As of now, the Fiorito is looked at as more of a souvenir than true currency to those outside the town. I thought to check Freedom's Phoenix again and immediately found myself wandering through a stand of great, frank writings and only a little Libertarianoid nonsense. Had droppped my subscription to FP because of the huge volume of stuff it sends every day, and the irony is forgetting half the time that this prime source of vital info exists
First up is a beautiful piece (like a stormy Beethoven sonata) from the liberaloid Slate online magazine:

What's news is the existence of the article -- since it takes guts for even liberals to state truth so plainly -- and the yet higher figures the article offers than similar examinations elsewhere:

A couple of blocks from my small townhouse is a ritzy, leafy neighborhood of one-acre lots and million-dollar-plus homes, some of which are zoned as horse properties. One of the lots is vacant and devoid of any evidence that a large, brick ranch house had once stood there.
The perfectly good house had been torn down in the middle of the housing bubble. Soon after, construction began on a replacement house, a 13,000 sq. ft. McMansion. One day during the housing bust, after framing and plywood sheeting had been completed on the house, construction abruptly stopped. Construction workers suddenly departed, taking their equipment and locking the gate behind them on the temporary cyclone fence that surrounded the property. No doubt, the builder went broke.
The half-finished house sat for two years, slowly deteriorating in the elements and becoming an eyesore in the upper-income neighborhood. A couple of months ago it was sold and razed in preparation for a smaller home to be built in its place. The lot is once again vacant and devoid of any evidence that homes had stood there.
I don’t know the exact amount of money that has evaporated on this one lot, but it has to be a staggering figure, probably in the range of what it would cost to send three kids to Ivy League universities for four years. Capital that could have gone to education or been invested in new businesses is--poof!--gone with the wind, to borrow the title of Margaret Mitchell’s masterpiece. Multiply the evaporated money by a million and you’ll come close to the total cost of Hurricane Fannie Mae.
Now, the main dish...... where plain English takes a crowbar to the entire governmental bureaucracy house-of-cards!

The perfectly good house had been torn down in the middle of the housing bubble. Soon after, construction began on a replacement house, a 13,000 sq. ft. McMansion. One day during the housing bust, after framing and plywood sheeting had been completed on the house, construction abruptly stopped. Construction workers suddenly departed, taking their equipment and locking the gate behind them on the temporary cyclone fence that surrounded the property. No doubt, the builder went broke.
The half-finished house sat for two years, slowly deteriorating in the elements and becoming an eyesore in the upper-income neighborhood. A couple of months ago it was sold and razed in preparation for a smaller home to be built in its place. The lot is once again vacant and devoid of any evidence that homes had stood there.
I don’t know the exact amount of money that has evaporated on this one lot, but it has to be a staggering figure, probably in the range of what it would cost to send three kids to Ivy League universities for four years. Capital that could have gone to education or been invested in new businesses is--poof!--gone with the wind, to borrow the title of Margaret Mitchell’s masterpiece. Multiply the evaporated money by a million and you’ll come close to the total cost of Hurricane Fannie Mae.
Now, the main dish...... where plain English takes a crowbar to the entire governmental bureaucracy house-of-cards!

What would it be like to go without a POTUS? Probably a return to normalcy. How many high offices are in fact superfluous? A well-known politico ran for Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina (or was it Secretary of State) some years ago on the promise that he'd abolish the job once he got it. Search "abolish" here

Is Ron Paul less than perfect?
A handful of emails came to me today titled "Bad news on Ron Paul." The news, if that's what it is, is that Dr. Paul has hired some kind of questionable financial operator for his campaign team. The person referred to does have a shady aspect, but without even bothering to read the details, my reply to friends was that even if it's true one thing hasn't changed -- we still have a choice between Ron Paul and absolutely nothing.
Yes, absolutely nothing -- because that's all Perry, Palin, Bachmann and their ilk are! Their merits aren't even as substantial as thin air -- thin air you can at least breathe, but these pea-brains are TOTAL ZEROES. Nature abhors a vacuum, but neocons' brain waves manage to exist in one.
Ron has his blind spots and faults. Doesn't everybody? Don't you? He's weak as water regarding the border war, but come on, he came to Dixie from Pennsylvania. The question isn't whether he's going to be a 100% consistent knight in shining armor but whether he's significantly better for the country and the world than the opposition. "Better" won't do it: Bushes are marginally better than Clintons, but it doesn't make actually mean they're good in any sense. Quite the contrary, both families are the embodiment of satanic evil.
There's a world of difference between such classes of comparison. But one of the main questions at this point is whether the Ron Paul article at hand is genuine. Rumors abound, urban legends clog cyberspace. It's disappointing how readily people things at face value sometimes.... If anybody has facts on this, please say on.
