Urgently needed: sarcasm, ridicule, healthy contempt on the System

The abovementioned qualities are the toxins which, in tiny trace amounts and administered for the right ailments, help keep a body politic healthy. Sacred cows and false gods which are ridiculous are not merely fair game for ridicule; they urgently need it. The horrendous desperately needs abhorring by the people as well as the politicians. But today's sheeple have lost their most basic reflexes and immunities and are hence falling to pieces without even realizing it; decent people shun conflict and controversy as un-nice, forgetting the best way to die of a disease is to ignore it.

Sometimes, though, one of the sheep comes back to himself and runs up and bites a wolf on the leg -- maybe even sending it howling away stunned with surprise. Enjoy these sendups of "BHO" from today's email picks:

Now I'm not the kind who'll condemn a movement like Occupy right off the cuff despite its admittedly gagging socialist blind spots. I think the hordes of protesters might even be issuing a prophetic final warning to the System before it collapses of its own bloated weight and corruption. But BHO deserves any derision he can get. Indeed, the need for calling down a politician as a total fraud and gangster may have never been so urgent! Yet socially proper people, even amongst alleged conservatives, decline to do what liberals fear and loathe most -- turn them into the laughingstocks they really are.

BHO's agenda is purely Bolshevik, but how many people on either left or right are willing to even admit to themselves that he's a dangerous radical, much less a nihilist revolutionary? If my urgency in this matter seems a bit of a stretch, remember please that RIDICULE is what the left used to take over everything 40 years ago under the tutelage of a good Irish boy named Saul Alinsky. Yep, that's how they did it -- it only took enough jeering at things leftists hate, and a whole generation of youth was spewing contempt on its parents and everything they held sacred -- with the parents, alas, happily joining in a lot of the cultural arson themselves.

You who were there at the time surely remember. It was the thing to do!

.........Next I feel moved to comment on the latest death of an Indy Racing god. Car racing is outrageously stupid and vulgar. If the earth is ever visited by aliens and a car race is the first thing they see of us, they can't be blamed for racing back where they came from and filing a report that earthlings are the dumbest, most wasteful beings in the universe.

I have a sacred cow tipping service, in which I'll come in and denounce any stupidity nobody else will. So far it feels very lonely and pays only modestly. My peak performance occurred when Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia died of what the authorities called "natural causes". Wikipedia rehearses the real story for us:

Garcia was sometimes ill because of his unstable weight, and in 1986 went into a diabetic coma that nearly cost him his life. Although his overall health improved somewhat after that, he also struggled with heroin addiction,[3][4] and was staying in a California drug rehabilitation facility when he died of a heart attack in August 1995.

By comparison, a headline in Charter's news feed this morning goes

What caused the crash that killed Dan Wheldon?

Various circumstances converged leading to wreck that killed Indy 500 champ Wheldon.

Did you guess that I'm not even going to open the link that came with it? Seriously, now, do you think ameriKa could afford to step back from its obsessions and have a fresh look at them -- or in the mirror?

What killed Dan Wheldon? You don't need the link either, and ameriKa doesn't need to look any further into the matter, because we all know that vanity, bloodlust and decadence are what "converged leading to the wreck" in question. If we're not going to face that fact, it's no use studying the skid marks, ballistics or auto tech from yesterday's disaster.

In particular, I deplore the effect that such shenanigans have on young minds. They know deep down that they're living in a revived Roman Empire even if their elders mostly don't see it. To any thinking person, IMHO, the sight of cars whizzing around and around on a racetrack should seriously depress anyone; the sound they make is the funeral drone of a civilization gone mad with technocracy.
