The GOP is one of the Death Stars of the universe. I've spent yet more time this week trying FURTHER not to argue with a close friend and comrade whose religion is the Republican Party. He insists on promoting it at me; I tell him over and over that it's no use for us to even discuss it -- something I never tell anybody unless it's an extreme case with absolutely no options left -- because he is never going to convince me the Republican establishment will ever again approve a candidate for President that isn't pure, uncut scum.

This friend and I have tried discussion and debate but it's like, for me, trying to tell Niagara Falls to flow upwards. Once your mental hard drive has the GOP Cult virus, you can only spew its dogmas -- which happen to include vilification of Ron Paul.

Whenever politicians are insulting and dismantling Southern/Confederate culture, it's quite often that they turn out to be Republicans with reputations as great conservatives. This has led USC's great Prof. Clyde Wilson to remark that if the South is to survive, the GOP must be destroyed. IMHO, it's hard to argue with that.
