Another cultural god fallen..... to tax stultification

I don't know that I've ever seen Robert De Niro act, but Spitting Image once did a brilliant, technically incredible satire on his yankee pompousness and self-admiration. He lives in a huge country that would rather watch movies about athletes, mobsters and Russian roulette than learn its rights before law and government, and he's just become the latest apotheosis of these sorry priorities:

Robert De Niro Socked With $6.4 Million IRS Tax Lien

He can stand it, right? He's worth $200 million, the above figure wouldn't be missed. But the rich hate losing even 10 cents they don't have to, so his choice is now to either resist it on principle or pay it, suffer the humiliation and loss of 3% of his fortune for nothing, and encourage the IRS to continue its rampage through clueless super-rich celebrities.... Oh! He's already paid it:

"The two-time Academy Award-winning actor quickly cut a check for $6.4 million Thursday afternoon", it says, meaning yesterday. Just think -- his millions of worshipers out there have just learned that paying the IRS is a sacred duty! Maybe the tax rats found his longtime director Martin Scorsese such an easy mark they thought they'd try him too?

No tears for Marty here -- he birthed both the blasphemous Last Temptation of Christ flick and the sickeningly yankeefied New York, New York one..... oh, yeah, De Nero was in that, and I saw it. One of the few movies I've ever actually thrown in the trash rather than taking back to the thrift shop for them to make another dollar on.

Pardon my jaundice.... insane yankees from hell are eating my country. Remember, this column is where you get the bad news. For the good, positive political headlines come to your next local Patriot Network meeting. If you're not near one, email me for the latest good news breakthroughs.
