Think of that! They started the income tax, and the Great Depression struck. Not a direct, immediate cause-and-effect necessarily but both phenomena were the result of federal warfare against the people -- in a few starkly honest words -- as only seen in a 20th-century dosage.

Of course we in this room have no great sympathy for the Vanderbilts. They and other plutocrat families put down railroad tracks we're still riding on today, yes. But they were among the robber barons who have been crushing free enterprise and innovation since then, too. Still, I hate to hear of grand homes being lost from city streets over taxes -- if that is the case -- even if the people living in them are glorious vermin.

.............Ron Paul is gone from Congress, but he's still doing a lot of good. He fought for true net neutrality as hard as anybody in the private sector and is saying many things the Establishment hates with a purple passion:
