Hentoff still at his post at age 87
In the dark days before the patriot movement surged up in the late 1980s, the media were one endless dreary swath of rubber-stamp "liberalism". Among the few "name" writers offering a second opinion on issues was Nat Hentoff, who was seemingly a permanent fixture at NYC's Village Voice newspaper. For many years he was the only defender of the unborn featured in-house by any liberaloid periodical. The Village Voice has a somewhat alternative, mostly leftwing history, yet even there his prolife stance was the object of scorn and ridicule.
He's emerged as more populist as the years have passed, a wonder to behold. Many have traded on their "poor pitiful Jewish immigrant parents", especially those chronologically able to invoke the big H, but as you'll see here, Hentoff only does so constructively:

Obama's snooping -- this is America?
In an otherwise fine column, he professes ignorance as to where these Big Brother curses are ultimately coming from. For that full story, google ted pike, nathanael kapner, or texe marrs.
.........I've said for 25 years that all the fedguv would have to do is declare all invaders legal, and it would rip the ground right out from under the millions who (being racially gutless) hang their pro-borders arguments on immigrant legality alone. Is that what Chuckie Schumerkins just announced?

SCHUMER: 'ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST'
As a comment posted to that article puts it, if they legalize murder (and maybe slap a new name on it) does that mean murder doesn't happen anymore?
If a tree falls on a socialist prostitician in the woods and nobody bothers to investigate his whimpering, does that mean it made any sound?
Ha, ha, get this photo caption -- "A tree in the forest":
