That IRS just loves to give money away.... e.g. to imprisoned rapists

Raiding News of the Weird again, I again find a perfect income tax headline:

Imprisoned rapist Troy Fears, 55, had another four years tacked onto his sentence in April by a federal judge in Phoenix after he was convicted of swindling the IRS out of $119,000 by filing 117 fake tax returns from 2005 to 2009. According to prosecutors, IRS routinely dispatched direct-deposit refunds while indifferent to matching the payment recipient with the person whose Social Security number was on the return. (In fact, Fears was caught not by the IRS but by a prison guard who happened upon his paperwork.) [Portland (Maine) Press-Herald, 4-8-2011]

It must be admitted that the IRS has paid tons and tons and tons of money to our kind of people in similar but more circumspect actions, so sometimes it's actually doing a good work, even if by accident. In south Jersey years ago The Great One had lots of people filing for refunds and getting them with no strings attached.

More recently in our famously more vicious and barbaric age, patriots have hatched plots to crank up the IRS money machine anew. A number have reportedly received checks in six figures, but this time many of them have been chased down by the tax rats like Pharaoh changing his mind about letting the Israelites go, and the patriots have not only had to give it all back but face stiff punishment.

You see, the government is allowed to operate at its whim with total impunity, i.e. zero accountability to anyone. And when it does make a mistake -- even when it results in what government is supposed to do, i.e. improve citizens' lives in real terms -- it is allowed to punish the beneficiary of it!

One could say the IRS gets to be right all the time under this handy dandy new system, and we the people never do. Isn't it neat and simple? But to return to the news item at hand, I guess we'd have to admit the "service" did something right, even if for a totally wrong reason -- shoring up its own wealth and power, clutching at a semblance of restored cred.

..............The major media have chosen to report another big little IRS story:

Yankee Fan Who Caught Derek Jeter Ball May Be in Pickle With IRS

They as the fedgov's Most Obedient Servants love to pass along any IRS scare news that occurs, because, well, they're the most obedient servants of the fedgov. Or more precisely of the same rootless, heartless international moneybags who own both them, i.e. the media, and the politicians.

Personally, I'm against "bread and circuses", and have been since before they became the new ameriKan dream. If I were the one designing the new utopia instead of the likes of George Soros and Hellary Clinton, every sports figure that becomes morally notorious would be fired, never to work again.

But if I had my druthers, everybody would be brought up reading the Bible and hearing it daily applied to every aspect of building a good society -- not only to their own personal life and salvation. In the natural course of things, the word "hero" would never be applied to an athlete unless he did something really remarkable like spending a month each year catching border burglars along the Rio Grande.

In the natural course of things, everybody would grow up knowing "a priori" that games are just that -- games -- and then there's the rest of life.

As for the IRS, it would be laughed off the stage of history and its perpetrators prosecuted to the full extent of the law like it says in the Constitution.

In the natural course of things, every public figure wanting or demanding something of a citizen would be compelled by law to have the Constitutional and legal basis for it ready to cite, and cite it they would. Untold millions of people who presently stomp, cheer and carry on at a home run would instead thrill to living in an orderly, happy, devout, stable, prosperous, naturally safe country, secure in knowing they were true sovereigns, not the public servants.

You got me going.
