Do you remember the furor that erupted over this invention? Seemingly every week today, the System produces some horrible new device aimed at surveillance or persecution of the people. Indeed, the above page seems a quaint tale from long ago in today’s climate of government cyber-war against privacy and true security. But it’s an exciting case of the people overthrowing one such assault.
It’s great to see the Electronic Frontier Foundation on the honor roll in the article. Dr. Clarkson turned to them when the state was coming after him a few years back. They seemed to be very, very good yet understandably overextended folk engaged in bringing urgent issues dynamically to light.

Hub TV blurs Confederate flag in Happy Days episode

A few months ago, my daughter and I were watching an old episode of Happy Days on The Hub (CH 294 on Directv) In it, Richie and Potsie were trying to help a trio of beauty contestants. They were in Richie's bedroom talking it up when I noticed a poster for the Southern 500 (an old NASCAR race). In it was a Confederate flag prominently displayed. Well I'll be damned if political correctness hasn't run amok yet again! On June 2d at 9:30 pm, The Hub played the same episode and Catlyn caught it, the portion of the poster that contained the flag was blurred out as if were profanity or nudity. For Pete's sake, what is wrong with these people!!??? Unbelievable!!!
The Hub, which used to be Discovery Kids (I am not sure if the first time we watched it, the channel was DK) is a joint venture of Discovery Communications, Inc. and Hasbro. I will definitely be calling their ignorant asses!
